Self-Image
|
Self-image is something I have come to learn is very important part our own individual well being. How we think of ourselves, impacts everything else we do in our life. I believe I have a good self-image of myself and come to discover throughout this semester more about myself. I have come to see my strengths and weaknesses, and know what I need to continue to work on and keep doing. The most important think I have taken away from learning about self-image is that it is important for you to first believe in yourself before you can doing anything else.
When I think of someone that I would agree to follow, they are confident, respectful, organized, and a hard working. These are a few characteristics of a leader that I find important and strive to have myself. Taking the initiative to lead is something I find myself doing easily when the thing or situation is important to me, even if it might be difficult. I am a confident person, so I don't find it as difficult to take the role as a leader in situation. That being said, I know that this is something I can continue to work on and grow my strengths as a leader. Being able to connect well with other people is a huge part of leadership. To me, connecting with others means being able to form meaningful relationships with others while also working to accomplish a task. I believe connecting with others is one of my personal strengths. I am a good listener and try my best to find common interests with others. Communication is a core part of being able to connect with others when in a leadership position. I feel comfortable talking and communicating my concerns or needs when in a position of leadership or in general working with other people. Working together is a huge part of being on a team. This is something I have come to know and even practice throughout my junior ELA experience. Before you can have an effective team, you must work together and build your skills within the team. Some characteristics of a successful team I have come to learn are hard working, organized, flexible, respectful, caring, and determined.I have learned that being a part of a team is giving and doing more than just what is important to you. Personal reflection is something I find easy and hard at the same time. It can be easy in the sense that I can recognize the big things I did really well or really poorly in something I have done. It can be hard to see things that might not be as noticeable within myself or that if changed could really make something better. Personal reflection helps us to understand our strengths and weaknesses better and can help us to learn more about ourselves. By doing this, we can then become a better leader and recognize how we can give forth our best efforts in leadership. |
